CUFA Libraries – Summer Closure (2 July – 31 August 2018)

Because of the ongoing reconstruction of the main bulding and related organisational issues, CUFA libraries will be closed for the whole summer, i. e. from 2 July 2018 until 31 August 2018. All loans and extensions made in June will be automatically extended to 17 September.

CUFA Project Migration and Modernity – Historical and Cultural Challenges (MOVES) Wins a European Grant

A consorcium of universities whose members include Charles University, University of Kent, Freie Universität Berlin, Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier III and Universidade do Porto has received a grant from the European Union as part of the scheme Horizon 2020 for its project Migration and Modernity – Historical and Cultural Challenges (MOVES).

Conference “Screen Industries in East-Central Europe” Focused on Current Trends in Online Distribution of Audiovisual Content

The 7th annual “Screen Industries in East-Central Europe” (SIECE) conference, which took place in Prague on 22-23 May 2018, focused on current developments in online distribution of audiovisual content. The main conference themes also included Internet television and European Commission’s Digital Single Market strategy.

St. Wenceslas Rotunda in Prague Won the 2018 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards

The winners of the 2018 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, Europe’s top honour in the field, were announced on 15 May by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, the leading European heritage network. St. Wenceslas Rotunda in Prague won the award in the category “CONSERVATION”.

Video Game on Nazi Occupation Wins Main Prize at Berlin Festival, Remains Blocked in Germany

Attentat 1942, a historically-accurate video game about the Nazi occupation of former Czechoslovakia, recently won the “Most Amazing Game Award” at the prestigious A MAZE 2018 Festival in Berlin.

Ibero-American Week: Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organisation of American States, Gave Lecture at CUFA

As part of the Ibero-American Week, organised on 19 – 27 April by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with representatives of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries in Prague, the Centre for Ibero-American Studies at CUFA organised a symposium Cien años de relaciones entre Checoslovaquia/República Checa y el mundo hispánico/lusobrasileño.
