A unique message about healing

The tragedy that took place at CU FA last December changed the university and the whole of society to the core, causing unfathomable pain and suffering for those who lost loved ones. But it also provoked a wave of solidarity and kindness. Director Markéta Oddfish Nešlehová, a graduate of CU, made a documentary about the healing process to air on 21 December 2024.

Elections to the Academic Curia of the Academic Senate of CU FA Are Repeated

Due to a procedural problem, the Electoral Commission suspended and cancelled the ongoing elections to the Academic Curia of the Academic Senate of CU FA on Thursday morning, 5 December 2024. The new election will take place from Wednesday, 11 December (10:00 am), to Friday, 13 December 2024 (5:00 pm). The elections to the Student Curia remain unchanged.

A Graduate of CU FA Received the French Order of Arts and Letters

Doc. Jana Semerádová received the Order of Arts and Letters in the rank of Knight from the hands of the French Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Stéphane Crouzat, on 4 December 2024. The graduate of Musicology at CU FA received the Order for the popularization of French Baroque music and cultural heritage.

Microcertificates Are of Crucial Importance to 4EU+ Alliance

At the conference Microcertificates in the Czech Higher Education Environment, organised by Charles University, experts and education specialists from discussed what this year has brought in the field of microcertificates and how their concept is being implemented in the higher education environment. The microcertificates are newly available also at CU FA.

The Student Council Announces the Jan Palach Writing Contest

The contest announced in memory of the 56th anniversary of Jan Palach’s self-immolation is intended for university and high-school students. The works can be submitted in Czech, Slovak, or English by 30 December 2024.

Elections to the Academic Senate of CU FA: New Senators Will Decide on the Future Direction of the Faculty

Electronic ballot boxes for the 2025–2027 election period will open on 4 December at 10:00 am and close on 6 December 2024 at 5:00 pm. All members of the academic community of CU FA can cast their vote via the web application at volby.ff.cuni.cz.

Rector Honours Key Individuals on 17 November Anniversary

The Rector of Charles University Prof Milena Králíčková awarded for the first time the Cori Award for contributing to equal opportunities to Prof Alena Macurová. The Arnošt of Pardubice Award for outstanding pedagogical activity was awarded to Prof Petr Čermák and an honorary mention of the Grant Agency of CU was awarded to a PhD student Kristina Doležalová.

Freedom and Solidarity: Czechs Mark 17 November

The day of dual remembrance: the brutal police crackdown on students that ignited the Velvet Revolution in 1989, and the tragic events of autumn 1939, when the Nazis shut down universities and deported students to a concentration camp. Representatives of Czech universities commemorated the memory of those who fought for freedom and democracy.

Fulbright Scholar, Dr Ingrid Anderson, Teaches Jewish Philosophy, Theology and Political Science at CU FA

Dr Ingrid Anderson from Boston University teaches a course at the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at CU FA, entitled “From Spinoza to Ben Gurion: Modern and Contemporary Jewish Philosophy, Theology and Political Thought.” Her research focuses on early Prague Zionism and its involvement in Czech nationalism of the same period.

AED Is Now Available at Reception in the Main Building of CU FA

You may find the automatic resuscitation machine at the reception desk on the ground floor of the building on Jan Palach Square. The machine is capable of restoring the proper functioning of the heart in case of an emergency. Besides the AED, first aid kits are available in CU FA buildings.
