Prof. David Hicks will spend the summer term 2021/22 at the Department of Anglophone Literatures and Cultures at CU FA as Fulbright Visiting Scholar. He will be teaching two seminars: American and Canadian Literature: Civil War to WWII, and Early American Women Writers: The Origins of Feminism.

Faculty of Arts Commemorates Self-Immolation of Jan Palach
On Saturday 16 January 2022, the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, commemorated Jan Palach’s self-immolation as a political protest against the Communist regime during the Prague Spring in 1969. The ceremony organised by the Student Council at CU FA took place in front of his death mask on the main building of CU FA.

Prof Tomáš Halík Received Two Major Awards
The International Institute for Hermeneutics at the University of Warsaw appointed Tomáš Halík (Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University) an honorary professor. Simultaneously, Prof Halík has become the first foreign laureate of Józef Tischner Award for prominent intellectuals, journalists, and social activists.
CU’s Discovery Service: Searching Made Easy
A little over two months ago, Charles University launched its new discovery service UKAŽ facilitating the simultaneous and smooth search of printed, digitised and electronic resources. The system was a complete redesign and streamlining of its forerunner, integrating the catalogues of more than 60 CU libraries.
