Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund

  • Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) – fellowship program of Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research
  • for full-time doctoral students of their third year of  studies at most
  • the fellowship is awarded for one year and may be extended for another year based on fulfilment of the curriculum
  • the amount of the fellowship is USD 12,500/year
  • a total of two new fellowships are awarded every year

    Students must achieve the following during the fellowship period:
  • to complete a dissertation or a substantial part of it
  • to carry out part of the research abroad
  • to be enrolled in studies at CU for the entire fellowship period
  • detailed information on the Rectorate´s wsebsite
  • applications can be submitted once a year, the faculty deadline is at the end of April
  • FA CU can nominate a maximum of 2 candidates
  • Rectorate selects the CU candidates,
  • Tokyo Foundation (TKFD) makes the final decision.
  • successful candidates are contacted by TKFD, which will also sign acontract with them

    If students are receiving or planning to apply for another scholarship/grant at the same time as the SYLFF fellowship, this must be stated in the application together with the amount and purpose – covering the same expenses through multiple scholarships is not allowed (so-called double funding).
  • CV (max. two A4 pages)
  • motivation letter (max. one and a half A4 pages)
  • signed recommendation of the supervisor on the required Recommendation Letter form
