Post-Graduate Symposium
The theme of this year’s conference is “Space in Two Dimensions: Exploring the Concept of Space in the Visual Cultures of Central and Eastern Europe”. This has, as anticipated, generated a wide range of papers, reflecting the diversity of the region’s cinema and the array of approaches to space – as cultural construct, as a gendered sphere, and as an avenue for artistic innovation and exploration. We hope this year’s theme will not only provide lively a discussion of these varied usages of space in visual culture, but will encourage participants to think beyond their own personal conceptions of space in their research.
