First Issue of Student Academic Journal The Protagonist: Call for Submissions

The newly established student academic journal The Protagonist is now inviting contributions to the first issue, focused on the topic of transnationalism.

  • Accepted formats include academic articles, research-based reviews, opinion pieces, and interviews
  • Articles should not exceed 5,000 words
  • An abstract of 200-300 words is required
  • Deadline for submissions: 15 April 2022 (to be sent via e-mail to: theprotagonistpress@gmail.com)

The editorial board particularly welcomes texts dealing with:

  • Food, music, sports or fashion (as markers of identity)
  • Works of fiction dealing with migration
  • Hyphenated identities
  • Re-immigration
  • Post-colonial readings
  • Personal accounts of working in academic environments across the boarders
  • Community (ethnic enclaves, integration, language, cultural encounters)
  • Language and bi- or multilingualism
  • Negative reactions to transnational movement (racism, conservatism, loss of culture)
  • National feelings/identity (country of origin vs. adopted country)
  • 1st, 2nd, or later generation narratives
