BOHEMs (PRIMUS Research Project), Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, cordially invites you to the international conference entitled „World War II: History and Memory.“
The conference aims at deepening the discussion on the role of WWII in modern history, echoing even in the present times. It seeks to grasp the phenomenon of the Second World War as a historical event reminded and commemorated during and beyond the Cold War with diverse impact on the formation of identities. It specifically focuses on the region of Central, East and South-East Europe and provides space to contributions on war narratives of various interest groups (for example the Holocaust, GULAG, resistance, minorities etc.) and the ways how they are remembered and mediated.
The event is organised in cooperation with French Research Center in Humanities and Social Sciences – Prague (CEFRES); Faculty of Arts, CUNI – Institute for the Study of Strategic Regions (ISSR); and Central European Network for Teaching and Research in Academic Liaison (CENTRAL); under the kind auspices of Jan Škrha (Vice-Rector for International Affairs, CUNI); Michal Pullmann (Dean of the Faculty of Arts, CUNI); Tomáš Nigrin (Director of the Institute of International Studies, FSS, CUNI) and Olga Lomová (Chair of the ISSR Board, CUNI)
Participation is open upon registration. To register, please, contact Tereza Juhasova, tereza.juhaszova@fsv.cuni.cz, with your name and affiliation (subject line: „Conference registration“).
