This year marks 230th anniversary of the first written constitution in Europe, issued by the Polish-Lithuanian Diet on 3 May 1791. On the occasion of this milestone, the History Students‘ Association of the Faculty of Arts and the Polish Institute in Prague is organizing a debate with the distinguished historian Prof. Robert I. Frost from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.
The topic of the debate will be the Constitution itself, being an important and interesting document not only concerning Polish history, but also the Polish republicanism and its traditions and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and its place in history. We will not avoid questions relating to the present either. We welcome both students of history, but all interested public in the subject.
The event will take place on 21st September 2021 at 19:00 at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in room P200 (in the building on náměstí Jana Palacha 2, Praha 1) and will be held in English. The expert moderator of the debate will be a specialist on the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth PhDr. Jan Květina, Ph.D. from the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
