D-Theatre, a society of current and former students of the Faculty of Arts, presents Oliver Goldsmith’s famous comedy She Stoops to Conquer.
Annotation: „A comedy of manners by Oliver Goldsmith in which the rich gentleman Charles Marlow travels out of London to meet Kate Hardcastle, a young lady he is to marry. Accompanied by his friend Hastings, he is misled on his way by her brother – Tony Lumpkin, into thinking that the house of his fiancée is an inn. Taking his future father in law for an innkeeper, he repeatedly orders him about while pursuing his fiancée Kate (thinking she is a barmaid) in hope of a one-night stand. Knowing of his strange impediment that prevents him from behaving naturally in the company of high-class women, Kate takes advantage of this situation to turn her future husband into a better lover.“
