Meeting Tibetan Dissidents

Tibetan dissidents will arrive at Campus Hybernská on 18 November 2024 – the day after the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in the Czech Republic. Guests will include poet Tenzin Rsundue, who has been arrested 16 times for his protest actions and is one of the most prominent activists for Tibetan independence; actress Sonam Dolma, who studied ballet in the capital Lhasa and now performs at the 14th Dalai Lama’s exile residence; and singer Loten Namling, who sings traditional and original songs and has been called “Singer with a Voice” by the 14th Dalai Lama. The event is organized by SIMS, the student government of the Institute of International Studies of at the Faculty of Social Science, Charles University.

It will discuss the succession of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tibetan national identity, ecology on the Tibetan Plateau, and human rights in contemporary Tibet.
