Direct exchange programmes are based on bilateral agreements between Charles University and partner universities (inter-university agreements) or more directly between the Faculty of Arts (FA) and its partner faculties (inter-faculty agreements).
The terms and conditions of direct exchanges are determined by specific agreements (number of exchange students per semester/academic year, scholarships / housing allowance). The agreements are usually reciprocal, i.e. both parties accept the same number of exchange students under the same conditions.
For information about the possibility of nomination for an inter-faculty/inter-university exchange programme, please contact the International Office of your home university.

General information about studying in the Czech Republic
The Welcome information meeting is held online in September (winter semester) and January (summer semester).
Registration takes place at the Faculty of Arts and requires students to be present in person; dates are always emailed to students ahead of their arrival in the Czech Republic.
Students collect their CU student card in person at the Card Centre at CU Point in Celetná street or at the Faculty of Law; the types of cards and contact details are listed here
Courses taught at the FA are available for viewing in SIS (Student Information System). Students enrol in courses in their SIS profile during the period when SIS is open for enrolment. They will always receive specific information and deadlines from their coordinator at the International Office.
At the end of the semester, all grades for completed courses, together with the corresponding number of ECTS credits, are entered in SIS. Before leaving the Czech Republic, students request a transcript – it can be picked up in person at the International Office or a scanned version can be emailed.
