The international conference with the subtitle “Role of Science, Knowledge Transfer, Education and Youth Social Care” takes place in the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius and at the Department of Education (CU FA) on 23–24 June. The main topics of the conference are the significance of pedagogical institutions and organizations, professional pedagogical identity and forming of personal identity.
The conference commemorates three anniversaries: the 430th anniversary of the birth of J. A. Comenius, the 140th anniversary of the division of Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague, to which is also linked the foundation of the Pedagogical Seminar at CU FA, which has been in continuous operation until today (now Department of Education), and the 130th anniversary of the opening of the J. A. Comenius National Pedagogical Museum and Library in Prague.
The conference aims to reconstruct and analyse the importance of pedagogical science, institutions of education in the development of teachers‘ personal and professional identity, and how they examine “alternative” procedures, for example, hybrid forms of education.
Moreover, the conference will explore the historical role of pedagogical organizations of the late 19th and first half of the 20th century, the changes during the so-called second wave of pedagogical professionalization in the 1970s and 1980s, and also the formation of pedagogical identity in the age of globalization.
The conference is co-organized by several Czech and foreign institutions: Faculty of Arts, Charles University, National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius, Centre for the History of Education at the Czech Academy of Sciences, Technical University of Liberec, Masaryk University in Brno, Helmut-Schmidt-Universität Hamburg, Technische Univeristät Dresden, and Universita di Foggia.
