The Department of Adult Education and Personnel Management at CU FA Organises 11th ESREA Triennial Conference: Dialogue in and through Adult Education and Learning

Dialogue in society in general, in the field of education, and in adult education in particular, is becoming more and more urgent topic. The need for dialogue in contemporary society is reinforced by the growth of inequalities and a sense of marginalisation linked to the impossibility of being heard and recognised. Alongside the persistence of old divisions, new forms of conflict and crisis are emerging, with a decline in political culture, various forms of hatred, a shift from liberal to so-called illiberal democracy, and the normalisation of violence.

The central theme of the conference concerns adult education and learning in relation to biography, learning and identity, citizenship, community, migration, changes in work, the roles of adult educators and the needs of learners, gender specificities or intergenerational relations. The dialogue on different ways of knowing and the relations between them is then linked to the debate on the forms of relations between social research and the public, broadly conceived educational policy and the practice of adult education and learning.

The conference will welcome contributions that allow for the sharing of ideas, project experiences, and above all research findings on forms of adult education and learning that help to develop dialogical skills as part of the preconditions for quality of life for individuals and groups.
