Dr Ingrid Anderson from Boston University teaches a course at the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at CU FA, entitled “From Spinoza to Ben Gurion: Modern and Contemporary Jewish Philosophy, Theology and Political Thought.” Her research focuses on early Prague Zionism and its involvement in Czech nationalism of the same period. As part of her stay, she also works at the Herzl Center for Israel Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University.
Her seminar at CU FA is devoted to reading and discussing modern Zionism and post-Zionism as critical examples of Jewish thought that have significantly changed our world. It focuses on some of the most important Jewish thinkers of the early modern, modern, and contemporary periods, including Baruch Spinoza, Moses Mendelssohn, Hannah Arendt, Elie Wiesel, and Yitz Greenberg.
Dr Ingrid Anderson specializes in modern and contemporary Jewish theology, philosophy, and political thought. At her home university, she teaches courses on images of Jewish masculinity and post-Holocaust ethics. She serves as Associate Director of the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies at Boston University. She received her BA in Literature and Women’s Studies, MA in Jewish Studies, and PhD in Religious Studies from Boston University.
