Both awards are intended for students, graduates and alumni of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. The awards are given for work completed while studying in the calendar year 2023. Proposals for the awards can be submitted by all members of the academic community.
The Jan Palach Award is awarded for outstanding educational or popular science activities, for outstanding social, cultural, or sport activities that increase the prestige of the faculty or for demonstrating exceptional human and character qualities in extraordinary situations.

The Růžena Vacková Award is given for outstanding independent publication, outstanding merit of a term, BA or MA thesis, or outstanding scholarly contribution during the course of PhD study.

Both prizes are associated with a financial award of 20.000 CZK.
