The scholarships enable PhD students and young researchers to spend part of their studies at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. This exceptional support helps to connect young humanities scholars with world-class institutions.
The scholarship recipients include Anna Schubertová, a PhD student of comparative literature, and Michaela Válková, a PhD student of anglophone literatures and cultures, both of whom are going to Queen Mary University of London. Zuzana Golec Mírová, who studies archaeology of prehistory and medieval times, will attend the University of Edinburgh, Jan Šíma, a PhD student of political science, to the University of York, and Filip Váňa, a PhD student of philosophy, will be doing a research internship at the University of Warwick. Martina Novopacká will pursue her PhD in Sociology at the University of Essex, and Hana Tomášková, a PhD student of psychology, will study at University College London. And finally, Timea Crofony, PhD student of ethnology and cultural anthropology, is going to the University of Oxford.
The aim of the ACEF Foundation is to support study and research stays ranging from several months to a year for students under 35 years of age from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. During their scholarship stays in United Kingdom, the applicants should work on their dissertations or prepare their recently defended thesis for publication. ACEF scholarship holders use their stays in the UK for research in archives and libraries, and have the opportunity to access resources otherwise unavailable in the Czech Republic
