Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi Visited the Faculty of Arts

On 1 – 2 June 2016, Mr Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi – Vietnam National University, visited the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. Together with Ms Mirjam Friedová, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, they signed the Agreement on Academic Cooperation between the two institutions.

The agreement is intended to contribute to the development of Vietnamese Studies, to enhance the prestige of the Department of East Asian Studies at the Faculty of Arts (which seeks to acquire accreditation for master and doctoral programmes in Vietnamese Studies, not taught anywhere else in the Czech Republic and quite rare in Central Europe as well), to establish general cooperation in the field of Asian studies (VNU has a number of joint projects with USA, Japan, or China), and to advance the activities of the Institute for Study of Strategic Regions at Charles University.

Mr Pham Quang Minh also visited the Carolinum where he was officially received by the Prorector for External Relations. An agreement about future cooperation on a university level is being prepared.
