On 6 March 2014, a commemoration event was jointly organized by students of the Institute of Philosophy and Religious Studies, CU FA and the Department of Philosophy, Protestant Theological Faculty, CU, to honour the memory of the students and teachers who lost their lives at Maidan, or Independence Square, in Kiev, Ukraine. A representative of the Faculty of Arts´ academic community read out a letter by Konstantin Sigov entitled „Maidan, the heart of Europe“; the student choir of the Archbishop Grammar School in Prague then sang a Ukrainian folk song called „Hej, plyve kača“.
