Kongresu s tématem „Renesanční Shakespeare v proměnách času“ („Renaissance Shakespeare / Shakespeare Renaissances“), který se koná 17.- 22.7. 2011 v Praze , se zúčastní asi 600 odborníků na anglickou literaturu, renesanční divadlo, dějiny a umění z celého světa.
Tato významná mezinárodní akce, kterou pořádá Filozofická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy spolu s Mezinárodní shakespearovskou asociací (ISA), bude prezentovat širokou škálu nových poznatků nejen o životě a díle tohoto světového dramatika, ale i o kulturních stycích mezi Anglii a Čechami a o vlivu anglické renesance na českou a světovou kulturu.
Vědecký program doplní řada kulturních akcí včetně představení v rámci Letních shakespearovských slavností a tematických exkurzí na místa důležitá pro vědecké, kulturní a politické styky Anglie a Českých zemí na přelomu 16. – 17. století (Pražský hrad, bělohorské bojiště, Klementinum, Faustův dům, Křivoklát, Třeboň, Český Krumlov). Spolupořadatelem je Národní divadlo, v jehož historické budově se uskuteční zahájení kongresu.
Nad akcí převzal záštitu prezident republiky.

9th World Shakespeare Congress
The Congress, entitled Renaissance Shakespeare / Shakespeare Renaissances, is held in Prague on 17-22 July 2011 and will bring together about 600 experts in English literature, Renaissance theatre, history and art from all over the world.
This major international event, organized by the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague and the International Shakespeare Association (ISA), will present a wide spectrum of new findings not only about the life and works of the famous playwright, but also about the cultural relations between England and the Czech Lands and about the influence of English Renaissance on culture in Bohemia as well as the whole world.
The academic programme will be accompanied by a variety of cultural events including open-air productions under the Summer Shakespeare Festival and excursions to places which played an important role in the academic, cultural and political relations between England and the Czech Lands at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries (Prague Castle, the 1620 battlefield of the White Mountain, Klementinum, Faust House, Křivoklát, Třeboň, Český Krumlov). The National Theatre in Prague has joined us in the organization, and its historical building will host the opening of the Congress.
The Congress is held under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic.
