Research and Development
Science and research is, besides teaching, one of the most important activities of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague (CUFA); the two spheres complement one another and blend together. The high standards of the research taking place at the CUFA reflect the specialised profiles of Faculty centres, which provide good quality education at undergraduate level while ensuring the future of their fields by educating young academicians in doctoral programmes. One of the essential conditions for the advance of science is the establishment of cooperation with other Czech, Slovak and foreign universities. Besides tertiary education institutions, the natural partners of the Faculty of Arts are the Academy of Sciences of the CR and other scientific and research institutions.
International cooperation has been developing at all levels – the Erasmus exchange programme, cooperation between the individual departments and institutes of the CUFA with foreign centres specialising in the same fields, grant facilities, long-term attachments and short-term study stays and lecturer visits and conferences. One of the profiling activities of all departments and institutes at the CUFA is the organisation of conferences, either periodic or one-off conferences on specific themes.
