The Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague (CUFA) is a traditional centre of Czech and European learning. Its prestige is based on an unmatched number of almost seventy academic disciplines, on the depth of study areas and stringent requirements, and on the selective nature of the Faculty reflected in the thousands of applications that arrive each year.
In the Czech Republic, the Faculty of Arts provides for the teaching of the largest number of humanities disciplines – Historical Sciences; Philology; Philosophy, Logic & Theory and History of Art; Social Sciences.
The Faculty with its seven hundred top teaching and research staff is the most significant Czech humanities-oriented educational institution where new and breakthrough ideas are formed in the disciplines taught there, which is in keeping with its centuries-old tradition. The Faculty has almost eight thousand students, who later in their lives often become leading figures in Czech public life; its graduates often become prominent actors in the fields of science, culture and politics.
